ON DECEMBER 12TH, KENYA CELEBRATES ITS NATIONAL HOLIDAY

On December 12th, Kenya celebrates its national holiday, marking two key events in the country's history. One commemorates Kenya becoming a republic in 1964, while the other signifies its independence from the United Kingdom on December 12th, 1963.

The day, called Jamhuri Day in Swahili meaning "republic", holds immense historical significance, and every Kenyan celebrates this day. Celebrations typically involve political speeches, parades, and dances. This year's Jamhuri Day festivities focus largely on the youth.
